In a previous blog post, we explored the power of purpose.

So we understand the power of it, but how do we find it? It's hard to find isn't it?

The Four Simple Steps to Finding Your Purpose

Finding your purpose doesn't need to be difficult. With the right steps, it can be simpler than you think.

Many feel overwhelmed by the idea of discovering their purpose, but it’s actually the easy part. By aligning your intrinsic motivators - your values, curiosities, and the problems you care about - you can craft your Purpose Statement, the foundation of a purpose-driven life.

My Approach to Finding Your Purpose

Here’s the simple and powerful approach that I use to help people find their purpose:

  1. Establish Your Values: Your values are like the fire at your core - burning consistently, providing light and guidance in the darkness. They are the principles that fuel your decisions and actions, serving as your internal compass. Once you establish what truly matters to you, these values become the foundation of your purpose, giving you the direction and strength to move forward with clarity and confidence.

  2. Expose Your Deep Curiosities: Before societal pressures dimmed your natural interests, your curiosities were like sparks - small but powerful indicators of where your passions lie. Think back to what ideas or experiences first lit that fire in your soul as a child. How have they evolved into flames of curiosity as you’ve grown? These sparks are essential clues, waiting to be fanned into the flames of your deeper calling.

  3. Identify the Problems You Want Solved: The world is filled with challenges, and we find the most fulfillment when we fuel our inner fire by contributing to something larger than ourselves. What societal issues ignite your sense of urgency and drive you to take action? These problems are the embers of your purpose - your fuel to create change. By addressing them, you can turn your inner fire into a force that illuminates the world around you.

  4. Craft Your Purpose Statement: Once you've uncovered your values, curiosities, and the problems that fuel your inner fire, we work together to craft a clear Purpose Statement. This statement becomes the guiding flame - the North Star - that directs you through life’s challenges and opportunities. It’s the focused, powerful fire that keeps you aligned with your purpose no matter what obstacles arise.

This step-by-step approach helps you move through the process with clarity, making what feels overwhelming manageable and inspiring.

Why Simplicity Matters in the Purpose Process

By breaking down the process into these four steps, you can begin to take action right away. The clarity you gain makes the journey manageable, and you'll realize the answers are already within you—they just need to be uncovered.

When I first started searching for my purpose, I spent a year reading books, trying various tools and techniques and piecing all of these together into an approach that worked for me and has now worked for many others. I’ve streamlined this process for you, so you can focus on the work that really matters.
